The Ministry of Ecology and Environment is soliciting opinions: starting from January 1, 2026, the production of household refrigerators and freezers using HFCs as refrigerants will be prohibited.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has organized the drafting of the "Announcement on Prohibiting the Production of Household Refrigerators and Freezers Using Hydrofluorocarbons as Refrigerants" and is now soliciting public opinions. The solicitation of opinions is as follows: 1. From January 1, 2026, the production of household refrigerators and freezers using HFCs as refrigerants will be prohibited. 2. The household refrigerators and freezers products applicable to this announcement refer to the household refrigerators and freezers products specified in the attached list. 3. Relevant departments should urge enterprises to seriously implement the above regulations and effectively eliminate the use of HFCs as refrigerants in the household refrigerators and freezers industry. Enterprises found violating the above regulations by using HFCs will be punished in accordance with the law by the local ecological environmental authorities in conjunction with relevant departments.
