Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that due to the significant short-term impact of food and energy prices on the CPI, when observing price changes, it is not only important to look at the overall CPI change, but also to look at the change in core CPI, which better reflects the trend of price changes. From a year-on-year perspective, despite the impact of the widening year-on-year decline in food prices, the year-on-year increase in the consumer price index for July changed from an increase to stability. However, the core CPI, which excludes food and energy, increased by 0.8% year-on-year, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, and has been increasing for three consecutive months. Overall, there is a stable and rising trend this year, indicating positive changes in market supply and demand.
