Wang Yi meets with Burmese Foreign Minister Sao Sui.
On August 14, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Myanmar Foreign Minister Dan Shi who was attending the tenth Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in Anning, Yunnan Province. Wang Yi said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, and both sides should take this opportunity to deepen the construction of a community of shared destiny between China and Myanmar, and help each other in their respective development and revitalization. China supports Myanmar in finding a development path that is in line with its national conditions and enjoys the support of the people, supports Myanmar in maintaining sovereignty, independence and national unity, supports Myanmar in steadily advancing its domestic political agenda, and will continue to provide as much support and assistance to Myanmar as possible. Both sides should quickly formulate post-disaster reconstruction plans to help the disaster-affected people in Myanmar resume normal production and living as soon as possible, and feel the warmth of China-Myanmar friendship. It is hoped that Myanmar will effectively ensure the safety of personnel, institutions, and projects of the Chinese side in Myanmar, further combat cross-border crimes, and maintain the peace and stability of the border between the two countries.
