The finance minister approved the construction of over 3000 housing units in the disputed area.
Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon stated on the 13th that he plans to approve the construction of 3,401 housing units in the controversial "E1 area" between Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem east of the Jordan River, with the aim of "burying the Palestinian state idea." The statement said that the approval of the construction plan in the "E1 area" is part of the "facts on the ground sovereignty plan" being implemented since the formation of this Israeli government. After facing prolonged international pressure and freeze measures, Israel is breaking with convention by connecting Ma'ale Adumim with Jerusalem, which will strengthen Israel's "sovereignty" in this region.
