The Hong Kong Observatory issued a red rainstorm warning signal at 6:35 am on Thursday, indicating that heavy rain with an hourly rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters is expected or has been recorded in a wide area, and the rain may continue. The Observatory warned that the continuous heavy rain has caused or may cause serious flooding on roads and traffic congestion, and school hours may be affected. Due to the heavy rain, flash floods may occur. Rivers have already flooded or may flood, so residents should stay away from rivers. The Observatory also stated that there will be heavy rain in the southern districts of Hong Kong Island, which may lead to serious flooding; and strong gusts are expected.
