Amazon will expand coverage of same-day grocery delivery to 2,300 cities.
Amazon plans to offer same-day grocery delivery services in 2,300 cities by the end of this year, more than doubling the current number, in its latest attempt to enter the grocery industry. In this trillion-dollar industry, its top retail competitor Walmart is leading. The company said in a statement on Wednesday that customers will be able to order fresh produce, dairy products, meat, seafood, and baked goods, as well as frozen foods and household items. Amazon said that in most cities, Prime members can enjoy free same-day delivery for orders over $25. Non-members will have to pay a $12.99 service fee, regardless of the order amount.
