Tariffs become effective, South Africa will allow exporters to cooperate.
According to reports, the South African Ministry of Trade has drafted proposed regulations that would allow exporters to collaborate in order to mitigate the impact of a 30% tariff imposed by the United States on South African imports. The new regulations, which were released for public consultation by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Competition on Tuesday, will be valid for five years. Under the proposed regulations, exporters will be allowed to coordinate and share transportation and marketing costs, collaborate in developing export infrastructure, and negotiate export agreements collectively. The planned rules are intended to help companies avoid violating anti-monopoly laws.
