The 50-year UK gilt yield increased by more than 6 basis points, hitting a record high above 4.9% after the release of US CPI inflation data.
On Tuesday, during the European market close, the yield on the UK 10-year government bond rose by 6.1 basis points to 4.626%. After opening higher with a gap, it continued to fluctuate upwards throughout the day, briefly falling to near 4.59% when the US CPI inflation data was released at 20:30 Beijing time, then resumed its upward trend, rising to 4.640% at 22:27. The yield on the 2-year UK bond rose by 2.2 basis points to 3.885%, with a trading range of 3.872% to 3.907% during the day. The yield on the 30-year UK bond rose by 7.6 basis points to 5.467%, reaching 5.483% at 22:27. The yield on the 50-year UK bond rose by 6.5 basis points to 4.886%, reaching 4.908% at 21:54, setting a new intraday historical high. The yield spread between the 2-year and 10-year UK bonds increased by 3.899 basis points to +73.883 basis points.
