The UK Environment Agency announced on the 12th that the current water shortage situation in England has been designated as a "national emergency" by the National Drought Group. The announcement stated that five regions in England are officially experiencing drought, while six other regions have continued to experience dry weather after the driest first half of the year since 1976. Compared to June, the flow of many rivers and the water levels of reservoirs in England continued to decrease in July. Last week, the water levels in English reservoirs dropped by 2%, with the average storage capacity currently at 67.7%, compared to the average of 80.5% for the first week of August in previous years.
