Nepal will waive climbing permit fees for 97 mountains.
Nepal plans to waive climbing permit fees for 97 mountains in the next two years to encourage foreign tourists to climb these less well-known peaks instead of crowding the world's highest peak Mount Everest. According to a report by the BBC on the 12th, the heights of these 97 mountains range from 5970 meters to 7132 meters, located in the remote western provinces of Nepal, Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province. Shimar Gautam, an official from the Nepal Tourism Board, said that the two provinces have magnificent scenery, but due to inconvenient transportation, the number of tourists and climbers attracted over the years has been limited, hoping that the new measure will help enhance tourism attractiveness.
