On August 12, regarding the imposition of a 15% revenue-based transaction licensing fee on the AI chip H20 GPU exported to China by the United States to NVIDIA, NVIDIA responded by saying, "NVIDIA complies with the rules set by the US government for participating in the global market; the demand for accelerated computing is global, and NVIDIA will continue to serve as many customers as possible within the rules." On August 11 local time, US President Trump confirmed that he had requested NVIDIA and AMD, major AI chip manufacturers, to impose a 15% revenue-based fee on their chips sold to mainland China as licensing fees. Trump revealed that he initially demanded a 20% fee, but through negotiations with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the percentage was reduced to 15%.
