Gansu: Make every effort to prevent floods, rescue and reduce disasters, scientifically promote post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.

According to Gansu Daily, on August 11th, Ren Zhenhe, Deputy Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Governor, chaired a special meeting of the provincial government at the Provincial Department of Natural Resources. The meeting focused on studying the important instructions from General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding the flash floods in Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City, as well as the directives from Premier Li Keqiang and Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing. The meeting emphasized the need to further deepen, refine, and implement the work. The meeting heard reports on the temporary resettlement of disaster-affected residents in Yuzhong County, as well as the post-disaster recovery and rebuilding plan. Using a three-dimensional map, the flood prevention work in Lanzhou City was analyzed at the county and district levels in detail. A total of 273 key river channels, especially 161 rural ditches, were studied individually to analyze rainfall and flood evolution, assess risks, and devise specific measures to enhance overall prevention and response capabilities. The meeting stressed the importance of making every effort to carry out flood prevention, rescue, and disaster reduction, and scientifically promote post-disaster recovery and rebuilding. It also emphasized the need to fulfill the political responsibility of promoting development and ensuring safety through practical actions.
