After a 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Balkesir province in western Turkey on the evening of the 10th, more than 200 aftershocks had occurred by the daytime of the 11th. Preliminary statistics show that the earthquake has caused at least 1 death, 29 injuries, and 16 houses collapsed. According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, 237 aftershocks have been recorded, with 10 aftershocks reaching a magnitude of 4.0 or higher. Turkish media reported that due to fears of aftershocks, many residents chose to spend the night outdoors or in their cars.
