The Chinese representative calls for upholding the international maritime order based on international law.

Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong spoke at the Security Council's high-level open debate on maritime security on the 11th, calling for the maintenance of the international maritime order based on international law. Fu Cong said that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is a comprehensive legal document in the maritime field, which, together with other international treaties and customary international law, constitutes the foundation of the modern maritime order. He called for firm adherence to the international maritime order based on international law, complete, accurate, and good-faith interpretation and application of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the eradication of selective application and double standards.
