The Turkish Dardanelles Strait has resumed navigation, while forest fires are still being fought.
On August 11th local time, the governor of the Canakkale province in Turkey, Emre Tolaman, stated that the Canakkale Airport, which had been temporarily closed due to forest fires, has resumed flights, and the Dardanelles Strait has also reopened for two-way navigation. Tolaman explained that the firefighting operation involved 10 planes, 9 helicopters, 75 firefighting vehicles, 35 fire trucks, 10 bulldozers, 92 other vehicles, and 760 personnel. As a precautionary measure, 2090 residents have been safely evacuated by sea and land routes; 77 residents affected by inhaling heavy smoke are currently receiving treatment with no life-threatening conditions.
