On Monday, Trump posted on social media that imported gold will not be subject to tariffs. Following Trump's post, the global benchmark prices for Comex gold futures and London spot gold remained essentially unchanged. Spot gold recovered some lost ground but still fell more than 1.2% from the previous day. As of Monday afternoon, the U.S. relevant agencies had not issued any updates on this policy. Last week, a White House official indicated that the government would announce new policies to clarify whether gold bars would be subject to import taxes.
