On August 11th local time, under the auspices of Iraqi Prime Minister Sudaani, Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larjani signed a security memorandum of understanding aimed at conducting consultations on security coordination along the two countries' borders. The Iraqi Prime Minister's Office released a statement on the same day, expressing Iraq's commitment to continuing efforts to develop bilateral relations with Iran and strengthen cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two countries' peoples. The statement also reaffirmed Iraq's firm opposition to Israeli military actions against Iran and any behavior that leads to the escalation of regional and international conflicts, while supporting dialogue between the US and Iran.
