Foreign Ministry: G7 members and relevant Western countries and institutions have made unwarranted remarks on the law enforcement actions of the Hong Kong SAR government, and China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian answers questions from reporters. According to reports, members of the Group of Seven countries and their affiliated members recently issued a statement criticizing and smearing the Hong Kong SAR police force's pursuit of individuals involved in illegal "Hong Kong parliament" elections, calling it "cross-border suppression." How does the spokesperson comment on this? Lin Jian stated that members of the Group of Seven and relevant Western countries and institutions have made unfounded criticisms of the law enforcement actions of the Hong Kong SAR government. China strongly opposes and condemns these actions. The Hong Kong police have taken law enforcement actions against overseas anti-China and anti-Hong Kong elements in accordance with the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Hong Kong National Security Ordinance, which is in line with international law and common practice, and is reasonable, legal, and necessary. The accusations made by certain countries against the SAR police for "cross-border suppression" are baseless. These countries engage in arbitrary "long-arm jurisdiction" and illegal unilateral sanctions while attacking and smearing the legitimate law enforcement actions of the SAR police, fully exposing their hypocrisy and double standards.
