Korean dried seaweed prices surge more than 40%, plans to restart dried seaweed reserve system.
On the 10th local time, South Korean government departments stated that due to factors such as climate change and increased export volume, the price of dried seaweed in South Korea has risen significantly. In response, the government plans to restart the dried seaweed reserve system to stabilize market prices. The latest data released by the South Korean Agricultural and Fisheries Food Distribution Corporation shows that as of the 8th of this month, the average retail price of dried seaweed in South Korea was 1347 Korean won for 10 sheets, an increase of 41.5% compared to the average retail price in previous years. It was reported that the South Korean government had implemented a dried seaweed reserve system from 1979 to 2006. If this is restarted, it will be the first time in nearly 20 years that South Korea has implemented this system again.
