The construction of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Sports Bay Area" is expected to speed up. The 15th National Games will be held from November 9th to 21st, 2025 in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, marking the first time that the three regions have jointly hosted a major sports event. It is worth noting that the recently issued "Guangzhou Sports Strong City Construction Plan" proposes to "fully leverage the sports event experience and international resources of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, actively plan to jointly introduce high-level international sports events such as football, basketball, and tennis, and promote the joint bidding for the World Cup and world-class comprehensive sports events." In response to this, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Bureau stated that they are open to all suggestions for promoting sports exchanges, including a cooperative attitude towards co-hosting sports events with mainland provinces and cities and Macao, and will actively maintain communication and contact.
