The China Meteorological Administration adjusts the scope of Level III emergency response for major meteorological disasters: It is expected that from the afternoon of August 9th to the 12th, there will be continuous heavy rainfall in the Sichuan Basin, southeastern parts of the Northwest region to the southern part of the Huang-Huai region, Jianghan, Jianghuai belt, and some areas will experience heavy rain or torrential rain, accompanied by significant short-term heavy rainfall and locally severe convective weather with wind gusts of over 8 on the Beaufort scale. After comprehensive assessment and emergency consultations, the China Meteorological Administration issued an order at 16:30 on August 9th to maintain Level III emergency response for major meteorological disasters. Provincial meteorological administrations in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and other provinces will initiate or adjust corresponding emergency response levels based on actual assessments. All units must strictly adhere to the meteorological disaster emergency response work process, strengthen prevention of secondary disasters caused by heavy rainfall and severe convective weather, and report important situations to the China Meteorological Administration in a timely manner.
