Chief Statistician Dong Lijuan of the City Department of the National Bureau of Statistics: The effects of expanding domestic demand policies continue to manifest, and prices in the consumption sector continue to show positive changes. Firstly, the CPI increased by 0.4% month-on-month, with an increase higher than the seasonal level by 0.1 percentage points. The increase in prices was mainly driven by the rise in prices of services and industrial consumer goods. The price of services increased by 0.6% month-on-month, affecting the CPI to increase by approximately 0.26 percentage points, accounting for more than 60% of the total CPI increase. Among them, due to the peak travel season in summer, prices of airplane tickets, tourism, hotel accommodations, and transportation rentals increased by 17.9%, 9.1%, 6.9%, and 4.4% respectively, all higher than the seasonal level, collectively affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.21 percentage points month-on-month. The price of industrial consumer goods increased by 0.5% month-on-month, with an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.17 percentage points. Specifically, due to changes in international oil prices, energy prices increased by 1.6% month-on-month, affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.12 percentage points; the continuous recovery in demand driven by consumption-boosting policies, combined with the end of the "618" promotion activities, led to a 0.2% increase in industrial consumer goods prices excluding energy. Prices of fuel cars and new energy cars, which had been declining for over 5 consecutive months, stabilized, while prices of household appliances, daily necessities, durable consumer goods, and personal care products increased by between 0.5% and 2.2% month-on-month. Secondly, the core CPI continued to rise year-on-year. The core CPI, excluding food and energy prices, rose by 0.8% year-on-year, with an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, the highest since March 2024. Prices of gold jewelry and platinum jewelry increased by 37.1% and 27.3% year-on-year, collectively affecting the CPI to increase by about 0.22 percentage points year-on-year; service prices increased by 0.5% year-on-year, with a stable increase affecting the CPI to rise by about 0.19 percentage points; prices of fuel cars and new energy cars decreased by 2.6% and 1.9% year-on-year, the smallest decrease in nearly 34 months and 28 months respectively.
