The United States' import volume significantly dropped in June, far exceeding expectations.

On August 8th, local time, the National Retail Federation of the United States reported that due to the impact of the Trump administration's tariff increases, US imports in June decreased by 8.4% year-on-year, far exceeding expectations. Starting on August 7th, multiple tariffs officially took effect, with some countries facing tariffs as high as 50%. The NRF predicts that total imports for the year 2025 will decrease by 5.6% compared to last year. NRF Vice President Gould warned that tariffs are pushing up prices, future product varieties will decrease, and called for a trade agreement to reduce tariffs.
