A new study found that weight loss drugs can significantly improve health conditions, although they may increase other healthcare expenses over time. Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Wegovy and Ozempic by Novo Nordisk, significantly reduced weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol after two years. Excluding the monthly drug cost of up to $1000, insurance companies saw an increase of $67 per month in healthcare expenses for diabetic patients and an increase of $81 per month for non-diabetic patients.
