On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the proposal to jointly build the "Belt and Road" initiative, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the National Development and Reform Commission recently jointly released the "Development Report on the Construction of the Air Silk Road," comprehensively introducing the effectiveness of the construction of the Air Silk Road, further consolidating cooperation consensus, and looking forward to cooperation prospects. The "Development Report" points out that currently, China's regular flight passenger transport serves 61 jointly construction countries of the "Belt and Road," and cargo transport serves 33 jointly construction countries. Chinese air carriers have historically served 110 jointly construction countries on international routes, preliminary forming air corridors covering the six major economic corridors of the "Belt and Road." As of the end of June 2025, China has signed government air transport agreements with 107 jointly construction countries, covering nearly 70% of the jointly construction countries. From 2017 to the end of June 2025, China and jointly construction countries have completed a total of 1,559,000 flight segments, transported 200 million passengers, and transported 5.951 million tons of cargo and mail, accounting for 59.3%, 59.2%, and 25.8% of the total international air transport volume, respectively.
