United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization: World food prices in July rise to highest level in two years
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization said on Friday that driven by the increase in international meat and vegetable oil prices, world food commodity prices in July reached the highest level in more than two years. The Food and Agriculture Organization stated that its Food Price Index, which serves as a global benchmark for food prices, averaged 130.1 points in July 2025, an increase of 1.6% from June. This is the highest level since February 2023, but the index is still 18.8% lower than the peak in March 2022 following the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Food and Agriculture Organization said that in July, the increase in meat and vegetable oil prices offset the declines in prices for grains, dairy products, and sugar.
