According to the Wall Street News app, President Trump has nominated Stephen Moore, chairman of the White House Economic Advisory Committee, to serve as a director of the Federal Reserve. This interim arrangement not only creates space for him to insert allies in the central bank, but also buys time to determine the next chairman of the Fed. According to Trump's statement on Thursday, Moore will fill the position of director that was originally scheduled to expire in January next year, while the selection of a "permanent successor" is still ongoing. The position has a full 14-year term and is likely to take over the Fed after current Chairman Powell's term ends in May. Although Powell could theoretically remain in office until the end of his 2028 term, it remains uncertain whether he will continue to lead the Fed.
