Shandong issues orange warning for strong winds at sea
The Shandong Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning for heavy rain at 9:10 am on August 8 and upgraded the yellow warning for strong winds at sea to an orange warning. Due to the influence of a cyclone, it is expected that from the afternoon of August 8 to the 9th, most areas of the province will experience heavy to torrential rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, short-term heavy precipitation, and locally 8 to 10 level, in some areas exceeding 11 level thunderstorm winds. The average precipitation in the province will be 40 to 60 millimeters, with maximum hourly precipitation of 60 to 100 millimeters. In some areas of cities such as Dezhou, Binzhou, Dongying, Qingdao, and Yantai, there will be heavy rain and locally heavy rainfall. This rainfall event will be intense with large accumulated rainfall, posing high risks of heavy rain and strong winds disasters. The meteorological department reminds people to take precautions against secondary disasters such as flash floods, geological hazards, urban flash floods and waterlogging in farmland. The heavy rain and strong wind weather will have adverse impacts on transportation, outdoor work, communication facilities, temporary structures, and maritime production, so precautions should be strengthened.
