Sichuan electricity consumption reaches new peak, natural gas power generation guarantees peak demand.
On August 5th, the maximum power load of Sichuan Power Grid reached 74.186 million kilowatts, an increase of about 7% compared to the highest load last year, marking the fourth time since the beginning of summer this year to refresh the historical record. Currently, it is a critical period for peak load regulation and power supply guarantee. As the main force in peak load support, Sichuan's 6 natural gas power generation projects that have been put into operation are operating at full capacity to play a key role in peak load regulation and ensure the stable and safe operation of the Sichuan Power Grid. Sichuan Basin ranks first in the country in terms of natural gas resources and production, giving it a unique advantage in developing natural gas power generation. In recent years, Sichuan has accelerated the layout of peak load regulation gas power projects and emergency backup power sources in load centers and major natural gas production areas, enhancing its ability to support peak loads. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, 9 new peak load regulation gas power projects have been approved, 8 have started construction, and 6 have been put into operation. The role of natural gas power generation projects in peak load regulation is crucial, with gas supply being the key factor. According to the Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company of China Petroleum, the 6 natural gas power generation projects already in operation have a total installed capacity of 7.41 million kilowatts, with the company responsible for gas supply supplying up to 20 million cubic meters of gas during peak periods.
