According to the Securities Times app, on Thursday, Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US) rose nearly 7% to $247.47. In terms of news, U.S. President Trump announced on August 6 that he plans to impose a 100% tariff on imported chips and semiconductors, but companies that transfer production back to the United States will be exempt from tariffs. Liu Jingqing, director of the Taiwan Development Committee, stated that Taiwan Semiconductor is exempt from chip tariffs because it has factories in the United States. As for other Chinese and Taiwanese companies that may be affected by tariffs, even if their competitors face the same tariffs, they "still maintain a leading position".
