On August 6th local time, according to NBC News, last month, US National Intelligence Director Richard Grenell, with the support of Trump, declassified a document about Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election, despite strong opposition from the CIA, which was concerned about revealing sensitive intelligence sources and methods. The declassified document originated from a report drafted by House Republicans five years ago, involving details of surveillance and a secret informant close to Putin. Several former intelligence officials expressed shock, stating that the information could easily identify sources and endanger US national security. Democratic Senator Warner criticized the move as weakening the effectiveness of the intelligence system. A former CIA analyst called the document "one of the most lightly redacted highly sensitive reports," which could severely damage the US intelligence system. Grenell claimed at a White House briefing that the report revealed the Obama administration had "manipulated intelligence," trying to undermine the legitimacy of Trump's victory with the Russia issue, a claim that has been denied by the Obama administration and bipartisan investigations.
