Amazon-owned self-driving company Zoox obtains exemption from US regulatory agency

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States announced on August 6 that it has granted an exemption to Zoox, an autonomous driving company owned by Amazon. This is the first time the program has granted an exemption to a manufacturer in the United States. The NHTSA stated, "Innovators in transportation can confidently and swiftly obtain vehicle reviews and exemptions from federal motor vehicle safety standards in appropriate circumstances."
