European chip stocks fell due to poor performance of their American counterparts and concerns over tariffs.
European chip stocks fell, constrained by negative news from American companies, weakness in Asian peers, and uncertain tariff prospects. A basket index composed of European chip stocks fell 1.9% at one point, to its lowest level in three months. Nordic Semiconductor fell 6%, Infineon fell 3.3%. Other declining stocks include STMicroelectronics, wafer manufacturer Soitec, and chip equipment manufacturers ASML and ASM International.
