Beijing is seeking opinions on the placement of bus stops. If certain conditions are met, a "request stop" can be set up.
With the increasing diversification of Beijing's public transportation routes in recent years, the number of customized and responsive bus routes has greatly increased. In order to adapt to the needs of the new operating mode, the setting standards of bus platforms also need to be adjusted accordingly. Recently, Beijing has publicly solicited opinions on the local standard "Public Bus and Trolleybus Platform Standards". The "Standards" clearly state that customized and responsive bus services should prioritize the use of existing bus platforms, and when necessary, may also set up separate stops. For stations with large distances between adjacent stops and a small amount of passenger demand between stops, a request stop may be set up to meet the temporary stopping and passenger waiting needs of buses. On key roads and key functional areas such as the Second Ring Road and Third Ring Road, transparent waiting shelters should be used at bus stops to not affect the surrounding scenery. Bus stop signs should indicate bus stops where passengers can transfer to the subway, making it convenient for passengers to travel.
