Japanese automobile electrification: "hardware" and "software" are continuously being optimized.
According to Nikkei Asian Review, sales of electric vehicles in the Japanese market continue to stagnate, with sales of approximately 27,000 units from January to June this year, a decrease of 7% year-on-year, marking the second consecutive year of decline.
Faced with this sales challenge, Japanese car manufacturers are more inclined to continue developing hybrid vehicles rather than pure electric vehicles. Akio Toyoda stated that in order to make a smooth transition, Japanese car manufacturers prefer to continue hybrid technology, gradually transitioning to electric vehicles without completely abandoning traditional internal combustion engines, rather than fully turning to pure electric vehicles.
Senior automotive analyst Zhong Shi stated in an interview with reporters on the 5th that due to the high level of energy-saving technology in combustion engine era of Japanese car manufacturers, hybrid technology is also at the forefront in terms of energy saving in the automotive industry. Therefore, their assessment of the energy-saving and environmental benefits of electric vehicles has always been relatively conservative. Even though Japan's power battery technology was leading the world more than a decade ago, Japanese car manufacturers are still reluctant to make significant investments in pure electric vehicles.
"Although the proportion of new sales of electric vehicles in Japan is still in single digits, the continuous optimization of the 'hardware' and 'software' environment for electric development in Japan is being driven by multiple favorable factors such as government carbon neutral policies, vehicle purchase subsidies, the improvement of charging infrastructure, and the increasing public awareness of environmental protection," said Atsuki Tokudai, as Byton is also accelerating the introduction of plug-in hybrid models and pure electric K-Cars in Japan to meet the increasingly diverse travel needs of the Japanese market.
