According to reports, there has been a suspected technology leak incident within TSMC. Informed sources pointed out that some former employees obtained key technology for the 2-nanometer chip process in violation of regulations during their tenure, and those involved have been dismissed. Regulatory agencies in Taiwan have summoned and detained three engineers involved in the case from July 25 to 28. It is understood that the regulatory agencies also searched a Japanese company called Tokyo Electron. The development of the 2-nanometer process by TSMC is highly challenging and costly, with only a few companies in the world, including TSMC, Samsung, Intel, and Japan's Rapidus, still conducting research and development. TSMC is expected to begin mass production of the 2-nanometer chip by the end of this year, which is considered the most advanced chip manufacturing process in the world at this stage.
