In the 60 years since the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region, there has been comprehensive progress in economic and social development, achieving historic accomplishments.

This morning, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the economic and social development achievements of the Tibet Autonomous Region on its 60th anniversary. During the press conference, it was mentioned that the past 60 years since the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region have been extraordinary. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, Tibet has established a socialist system and people's democratic government, implemented reform and opening up, fully built a moderately prosperous society, and joined the country in embarking on a new journey of comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized country. This has led to a historic transformation from darkness to light, backwardness to progress, poverty to prosperity, autocracy to democracy, and isolation to openness. The liberation and development of social productive forces have achieved great success, creating a "miracle of several decades that surpasses thousands of years". Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the highly attentive leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, Tibet's work has been greatly emphasized. The Central Committee has held the Sixth and Seventh Central Tibet Work Symposiums, established new strategies for Tibet governed by the Party in the new era, formulated a series of preferential policies and planned major projects, helping to solve many long-standing issues and accomplishing many significant achievements that were previously thought impossible. This has propelled all sectors of Tibet's economic and social development to achieve comprehensive progress and historic achievements.
