The European Hotel and Restaurant Industry Association Hotrec recently said that more than 10,000 European hotels have joined a collective lawsuit against the hotel and guesthouse booking website "Booking.com", demanding compensation for the losses caused to numerous European hotels over the past 20 years by a clause that was ruled illegal last year. Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, "Booking.com" had previously prohibited signed hotels from accepting customer bookings at prices lower than those on the website through their own or third-party sales channels. The European court ruled on September 19, 2024 that this clause violated European competition laws. "Booking.com" subsequently cancelled the clause. (Xinhua News Agency).
