China Telecom (00002.HK): Strong growth in Hong Kong data center power demand in the first half of the year, with 12 data centers expected to be put into production in the next few years.

According to the Wisdom Finance APP, China Electric Holdings (00002.HK) CEO Jiang Dongqiang stated that the growth of Hong Kong data centers in the first half of the year was strong, in line with Hong Kong's goal of developing into a technology innovation center, especially in the northern metropolitan area where a certain number of data centers will be put into operation. China Electric expects that there will be 18 data centers operational in Hong Kong from 2024 to 2028, with 6 data centers already in operation. Therefore, the company has made appropriate deployments in terms of power grid planning, and the backbone power grid in the north has been laid out. It will be extended to suitable locations at the appropriate time for coordination.
