On August 4th, the China Performing Arts Industry Association, in conjunction with the Lighthouse Research Institute, released insights on the popular projects and consumption trends in theaters for the first half of 2025. According to the monitoring of the China Performing Arts Industry Association's ticketing information collection platform, there were a total of 160,500 theater performances, including professional theaters, small theaters, and new theater spaces, in the first half of 2025, with ticket sales reaching 5.402 billion yuan and a total audience of 20.55 million. The performances ranked in the top 200 in terms of ticket sales saw a significant increase in both the number of IP shows, ticket sales, and audience numbers compared to 2024.
