Apple forms a new team to develop a "question and answer engine" similar to ChatGPT.

According to technology journalist Mark Gurman, Apple formed a new team earlier this year called "Answers, Knowledge, and Information," dedicated to creating a ChatGPT-like "question and answer engine" that aims to answer user questions by integrating information from across the web. The team is led by former Siri senior director Robby Walker and reports to AI chief John Giannandre. The engine may be released as a standalone app in the future, or integrated into Siri, Safari, and other Apple products. Apple is currently hiring technical staff with experience in search algorithms and engine development for this team.
