Westlake University is eligible for recommended exemption.

On August 1, the Education Department of Zhejiang Province published on its official website the "Public Announcement of the List of Newly Recommended Universities for Exemption Qualifications in Zhejiang Province in 2025", proposing to recommend 4 new universities for exemption qualifications. The 4 universities are: Zhejiang A & F University, Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics (both regular universities), Westlake University (a new type of research university), and the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (a high-level Sino-foreign cooperative university). Currently, a total of 40 universities nationwide have been announced by various provincial education departments as newly recommended universities for exemption qualifications.
