Crackdown on false advertising in pharmaceutical advertisements launched, accepting reports of false advertising in pharmaceutical advertisements starting from August 8th.
On August 1, the State Administration of Radio and Television held a meeting, officially launching a concentrated crackdown on false medical advertising. The meeting made it clear that the concentrated crackdown will be carried out in two stages: by the end of December 2025, with a focus on provincial health channels, all false medical advertising will be thoroughly removed; simultaneously, concentrated crackdown will be carried out on provincial, municipal, and county-level channels, and significant results will be achieved. By the end of June 2026, with a focus on provincial, municipal, and county-level channels, all false medical advertising will be completely removed, while preventing a resurgence of issues on provincial health channels. The State Administration of Radio and Television will establish a complaint reporting mechanism for false medical advertising, starting from August 8, and will timely handle complaints and reports from the public through various means such as phone calls, emails, official websites, and WeChat public accounts. Provincial radio and television bureaus will also establish complaint entry points on their official websites starting from August 8, and publish complaint reporting hotlines. Viewers who find false medical advertising aired on radio and television channels at all levels can make complaints and reports through the above channels.
