Starting from August 1st, individuals in Beijing can apply for the replacement of the third generation social security card.

On July 31, the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau announced that the city has started the fourth batch of centralized replacement of the third generation social security cards. Individuals who participate in Beijing's social insurance in their own names, including minors under 18, students over 18, urban workers participating in social insurance in a flexible manner, and rural and urban residents participating in social insurance in their own names, are eligible to apply for the new cards. In addition, starting from October 2025, Beijing will organize all retired personnel in the city to participate in the centralized replacement. Starting from January 1, 2026, Beijing will enter the normalized replacement phase. During this phase, the replacement will still be done online for applying for the third generation social security card.
