Insiders say that Google will invest $6 billion in building a data center in southern India.
Government officials said Wednesday that Google will invest $6 billion to develop a 1 gigawatt data center and power infrastructure in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, marking the first such investment by an Alphabet subsidiary in India. Two sources familiar with the Andhra Pradesh government said the data center will be built in the port city of Visakhapatnam, with the investment including $2 billion in renewable energy capacity to power the facility.
