Fukushima nuclear power plant employees evacuated due to tsunami.
At 8:51 am local time today, a strong earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka Peninsula on the eastern shore has triggered tsunami warnings in multiple areas of Japan. In response, Tokyo Electric Power Company has issued evacuation instructions for employees at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and has stated that they will monitor tsunami information to see if it will impact the nuclear power plant. Tokyo Electric Power Company has announced that, due to tsunami-related information, they have temporarily suspended the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the sea at around 9:05 am local time.
