Illegal receipt of more than 81.91 million yuan, Du Zi sentenced to 15 years in first instance.

On July 29, the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, publicly announced the first-instance verdict of the bribery case of Du Zi, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Congress Standing Committee. Du Zi was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for the crime of accepting bribes, and fined eight million RMB. The illegal gains and interest obtained from Du Zi's crimes shall be confiscated according to law and turned over to the state treasury. After trial and investigation, it was found that from 2002 to 2015, Du Zi took advantage of his positions as deputy secretary of the Erdos Municipal Party Committee in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, acting mayor, mayor, secretary of the municipal Party committee in Erdos, and secretary of the Communist Party Committee in Tongliao City, as well as the conveniences and privileges derived from his positions and authority, to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in business operations, engineering contracts, and other matters. He illegally accepted a total of more than 81.91 million RMB.
