According to reports, South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Joo Hyun-cheol, flew to Washington, USA on the 29th from Incheon International Airport. He will hold talks with US Treasury Secretary Scott Besen on the 31st of this month. Joo Hyun-cheol said in an interview at the airport that day that he will fully explain the cooperation plans that South Korea is preparing and the domestic situation. He will also have in-depth discussions on areas of long-term cooperation between South Korea and the US, such as shipbuilding, and make every effort to achieve an agreement that is mutually beneficial and based on the national interests of both countries. Joo Hyun-cheol mentioned that Besen currently holds an important position in the Trump administration overseeing economic and trade negotiations, so he will closely communicate with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Resources Kim Jeong-gwan and the Ministry of Trade's Head of Negotiation Ryu Han-gu, who are participating in negotiations locally, to fully grasp the situation and prepare for a comprehensive response.
