The cumulative registration of environmentally friendly cars in South Korea has surpassed 3 million vehicles for the first time.

According to data released by the South Korean government on the 28th, driven by the growing demand for hybrid and electric vehicles, the cumulative registration of environmentally friendly vehicles in South Korea has exceeded 3 million for the first time. The report quoted data from the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that as of the end of June this year, the cumulative registration of vehicles in the country reached 26.41 million, an increase of 110,000 from the end of last year, with a growth rate of 0.4%. Among them, the registered environmentally friendly vehicles such as hybrid, electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles totaled 3.11 million, an increase of 13.1% compared to the previous year. In contrast to the growth in the number of environmentally friendly vehicles, the traditional internal combustion engine vehicles that use gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas saw a decrease of 249,000 vehicles, with a total of 23.12 million vehicles. Among the registered vehicles in South Korea, domestic brands totaled 22.82 million, accounting for 86.4%; imported cars totaled 3.59 million, accounting for 13.6%. Compared to the end of last year, the market share of domestic brand cars in South Korea decreased by 0.1 percentage points.
