Taiwan's foreign affairs official visits Japan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The Taiwan issue is related to the basic trust between China and Japan.
On July 28th, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiajun, presided over the routine press conference. A reporter asked about reports that the head of Taiwan's Foreign Affairs Department recently visited Japan under the guise of a "private" visit and met with Japanese politicians such as former Economic Security Minister Koichi Hozanai and the head of the Youth Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party, Yasutaka Nakane. How does China comment on this? Guo Jiajun responded that Japan's tolerance of Lin Chialong's so-called private visit provided a stage for the "Taiwan independence" forces to engage in anti-China separatist activities, seriously violating the basic norms of international relations and the principles of the four Sino-Japanese political documents, sending a serious wrong signal. China is strongly dissatisfied, firmly opposed, and has lodged a strong protest with Japan in Beijing and Tokyo. Guo Jiajun emphasized that Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory, and the Taiwan issue is a core interest of China, which is crucial to the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations and the basic trust between the two countries. "This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the recovery of Taiwan. Japan colonized Taiwan for half a century and has serious historical responsibilities to the Chinese people." Guo Jiajun said that China urges Japan to abide by the spirit of the four Sino-Japanese political documents and solemn promises made, deeply reflect on history, learn from historical lessons, speak and act cautiously on the Taiwan issue, not to harm China's sovereignty in any form, and not to send any wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. Do not underestimate the strong determination, firm will, and strong capabilities of the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
